Posted Wednesday, December 24, 2014

Danielle Legros Georges has been named Boston's poet laureate by Boston mayor Mayor Marty Walsh.

A poet, educator and Haitian immigrant, Professor Legros Georges is admired nationally by Lesley students who have taken her courses in the Creative Arts in Learning program.

Selected from a wide range of talented applicants, she will be tasked with advocating for poetry, language and the arts, and creating a unique artistic legacy through public readings and civic events.

"I'm so pleased to see poetry and the arts supported by the city of Boston with a poet laureateship -- and look forward to programming that will reflect the diversity and energy of Boston's neighborhoods, people, poets, and literary community," said Legros Georges. Read more...
