Searching the Lesley Databases

Searching the research literature in psychology...

PsycINFO tips:

  1. Check the Thesaurus for exact terminology
  2. Advanced Search gives more options for precise searching
  3. Limit to "MR Methodology" in drop-down. Use keywords: literature review, qualitative study, quantitative study
  4. Don't limit to full-text in PsycINFO - it links to FT in other databases as well.
  5. If you don't find results, remove one of the keywords from your topic.

Quick & Dirty searching:

  • "this study" and...
  • "case study" and...
  •   interview and...
  • "literature review" and...

About this guide

This guide supports the Lesley University course, GPSYC 6101: Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methods, a required course for Master's Students in Clinical Mental Health. Dr. Sue Motulsky and I are collaborating to strengthen students' ability to access and evaluate the research literature in psychology. We introduce Evidence-Based Practice with kudos to the 3rd Annual Dartmouth Summer Institute in Evidence-Based Psychiatry and Mental Health, August 2009.
