Faculty - Linking in Blackboard

How to link to Media Education Foundation (Hosted by Kanopy) online videos in Blackboard

1. Open BlackBoard and go to the Content Area where you want to place the link
2. In the Build Content dropdown click on Web Link"
3. Give the Link a name - typically the title of the video
4. Paste the url in the url text box (see locating link URL below) 
5. If you want to you may add information about it in the Descriptions box
6. In Options click both"Permit Users to View Content"and "Open in New Window"
7. Click "Submit"

Locating the link URL to individual videos in this collection:

  • Go to the Media Education Foundation Collection and click on a video.
  • Click on the Share/Embed and copy the link URL in Share link.
  • Paste in Blackboard and put the proxy prefix  in front of it.
  • In order to create a playlist/clip see boxes below.
  • Set the link to open in a new window in Blackboard.
  • You may also embed a video or clip/playlist by clicking on the "embed" button beneath the video and copying and pasting the embed code in the html option in Blackboard. A full video will have 4 size options. A clip or playlist will only have one size option.
  • Linking is recommended, rather than embedding, due to functionality and browser security issues.
