Read through the Visual Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education, written by the Association of College & Research Libraries. Identify the areas where your students are most lacking, and try to incorporate assignments or lessons that will develop those skills. Click Lesson Planning in the menu to the left for tips!
Review the Research
Get a sense of the visual literacy research and instruction being done in your field.
Try browsing the Journal of Visual Literacy, which you have access to online through the Lesley Library.
Also try searching for the keywords "visual literacy" in your favorite database. If you don't have a favorite yet, go to the full list of databases and choose your discipline from the Subject dropdown menu.
