Revising, Rewriting & Formatting

You're almost there! There are just a few more things we need to do before we celebrate.

  •  Double-check the syllabus: Look at your syllabus or assignment page, and make sure that you've followed your professor's instructions. Have you used the correct form of citation? Have you addressed all of the grading criteria outlined by your professor?
  • Crossing the T’s and dotting the I’s: After the revisions, it's time to make sure that your work is grammatically and stylistically correct. Read through the paper, and make a note of anything that sounds or looks incorrect. You can also read the paper aloud to yourself, as you might hear errors more easily than you see them.
  • Citations: Proper citations are essential to academic work, and can be a little daunting if you are using a formal citation format for the first time. Fortunately, there are plenty of academic resources that you can use to determine whether or not you've correctly cited a source. If you need help with citations, you can always contact Ask a Librarian.
  • The last step: Reward yourself with something fun! You've earned it!
